aqwf quotes

"And then what?"

A pause. Then Haie explains rather awkwardly: "If I were a non-com. I'd stay with the Prussians and serve out my time."

"Haie, you've got a screw loose, surely!" I say.

"Have you ever dug peat?" he retorts good-naturedly. "You try it."

Then he pulls a spoon out of the top of his boot and reaches over into Kropp's mess-tin.

"It can't be worse than digging trenches," I venture.

Haiechews and grins: "It lasts longer though. And there's no getting out of it either."

"But, man, surely it's better at home."

"Some ways," says he, and with open mouth sinks into a day-dream.

Dreaming about everything they are talking about and doing, in a better way. They’re eating beans but hes thinking about a huge meal, and thinking about being home. I dream about my life and what I would like to so in the future.
You can see what he is thinking. There is the mean little hut on the moors, the hard work on the heath from morning till night in the heat, the miserable pay, the dirty labourer's clothes.

"In the army in peace time you've nothing to trouble about," he goes on, "your food's found every day, or else you kick up a row; you've a bed, every week clean underwear like a perfect gent, you do your non-com's duty, you have a good suit of clothes; in the evening you're a free man and go off to the pub."

Haie is extraordinarily set on his idea. He's in love with it.

"And when your twelve years are up you get your pension and become a village bobby, and you can walk about the whole day."

He's already sweating on it. "And just you think how you'd be treated. Here a dram, there a pint. Everybody wants to be well in with a bobby."

Thinking about what they would do when their out of war. Or what jobs they had and what they see themselves doing. When he is in war he doesn’t have to worry about anything during piece time, just when there out there fighting They should think about jobs, because when they get out of there if they do they’re going to need a job
Kropp feels it too. "It will go pretty hard with us all. But nobody at home seems to worry much about it. Two years of shells and bombs—a man won't peel that off as easy as a sock."

We agree that it's the same for everyone; not only for us here, but everywhere, for everyone who is of our age; to some more, and to others less. It is the common fate of our generation.

Albert expresses it: "The war has ruined us for everything."

He is right. We are not youth any longer. We don't want to take the world by storm. We are fleeing. We fly from ourselves. From our life. We were eighteen and had begun to love life and the world; and we had to shoot it to pieces. The first bomb, the first explosion, burst in our hearts. We are cut off from activity, from striving, from progress. We believe in such things no longer, we believe in the war.
We sit opposite one another, Kat and I, two soldiers in shabby coats, cooking a goose in the middle of the night. We don't talk much, but I believe we have a more complete communion with one another than even lovers have.

We are two men, two minute sparks of life; outside is the night and the circle of death. We sit on the edge of it crouching in danger, the grease drips from our hands, in our hearts we are close to one another, and the hour is like the room: flecked over with the lights and shadows of our feelings cast by a quiet fire. What does he know of me orI of him? Formerly we should not have had a single thought in common— now we sit with a goose between us and feel in unison, and are so intimate that-we do not even speak.
The war had ruined there lives. Everything they started to do in life, like marriage, school had just all been ruined by coming here, and risking your life everyday. They sit quietly just listening to everything going on, thinking about there live. I think this is true, it would ruin my life to go in war and leave everything I love
“There’ll be a bombardment.” Perhaps it is our inner and most secret life that shivers and falls on guard

There life they don’t see is scared part, because bad things happen in war and they have no idea what is going to happen I always get scared when bad things happen

This picture is about men and women fighting together to make the country a better place. If we all fight together and become a country as one then life can be so much easier. We will win in wars if we all stand together and help out. Even if your not part of the situation you should always try and give a hand. Life is so much easier with help, and with friends. So if your a group as one and not a single then youll win throughout life.

What would you do during war time?

The soldier:
I looked over at Ben and he had shot one of them, and just as I glanced away I hear another. I turn my head back at him and he’s lying on the dirt, with blood all around him. I run over to him and pick him up slowly and start running back to camp. I have to run through enemy territory but ill risk it for my best friend. So I do and I just pick up speed, and everywhere I go I checked to see if there were any enemies around. Right before we got to camp I decided to take out my pistol just incase, and matter in fact in came in hand because I had to shoot an enemy that was standing in my way. I finally got to camp and they rushed him you the nurses. I waited 5 hours outside the tent, and they finally came out and told me that he is in critical condition but they think he is going to live. You saved his life.

how much control do you have over your life

In 10 years i would like to be marriage to someone i love. One of my goals in life was to become a professional golfer which i think its about 25% chance, not because im bad only because some people make it and some dont. thats the way the association works. I also love basketball but i think i can go way further in life with the game of golf. I would want to be graduated from a good college with some sort of degree. Maybe in business. i could be a real estate agent like my dad. I think the chances of that are alot higher like 75%. However my life is going to turn out, and i know it will be great for me.

How i learned to pitch

1. Bryan Price told him to keep a quite head and to start throwing fastballs to make him stop think about his aim, and where he was throwing it.
2. The change up was alot easier on your arm and elbow, and it seperates throwers from pitchers.
3. to throw a change up you make an OK sign with your hand and wrap it around the ball. This makes the batter think its a fast ball but it comes in alot slower to throw them off guard.
4. The change up works because it comes out of teh hand slower than the fastball but it looks the same. the difference in deception can upset the batter and throw him off guard.
5. What makes a good pitching coach is for them to teach there pitchers to self-teach themselves. there are only so many times a coach can walk out on the mound to have a talk so they need to learn on their own.

More thoughtful question
1. We can learn that, if you dont know how to do something, or you just learned take it easy dont go straight for the hardest thing. work yourself up to it. Like the pitches he starts with a change up not a curve. Always teach yourself and try to learn and listen on your own.
2. A change up in writing would be a short story with a twist or has some action in it. Its easy to write because its short, but it thorws the reader off with the suspense or the twist you added. Kind of like the change up. Its one of the easiest pitches but it comes in handy and helps out.
3. I think what teh author means by this section is that yourt not always going to succeed. Bad things will happen and they do but you cant let them get into your head. Stay calm and stay relaxed. Every pitcher is going to have problem and they just have to finish the inning out and go on to the next one. Yes sometimes pithcers throw perfect games, but that is not very often and they need to know people are going to get hits. you just need to keep calm, stay relaxed and dont let it get to you.

video games

I agree with Malcolm because there are games with educational purposes but there are also games with shooting and gore. This is something kids love to do and enjoy doing. They can leaarn things from bad games. what to do and what not to do. If they dont like shooting games they will never be good with guns. so they wont have to worry about that. If people dont like racing maybe tehy wont have to worry about speeding. If there wasnt video games people could be alot different. some people are obsessed but most people do it for fun, and in some ways it can help you in life.

dance or math

I think math is a very important subject. Probably the most important subject in school. Math is very important because it can get you far in life. If you great at math you could be good at computers, and maybe make your own company. To get a good job you have to know math. If we didn’t have math half the jobs out would not exist because math and technology make them. Dance is a important skill I life, and it is great for everyone, but I think math is more important than dance. I think everyone should learn on know math in some part of there life. Dance can be for everyone but it’s only for people who want it. I mean you don’t need to get by life knowing how to dance. Well I don’t think school kills creativity, because without school everyone would be educated, and you need school for jobs, and pretty much everyday life. I also think people get to much into school and to much into there homework. They get to stressed to do what they love, and maybe what they love will someday help the world around us.

SAT prompt

What you do in life should concern you the most out of anyone, because its your life and you’re the person that is going to do everything and go everywhere. People can tell you what to do, but they cant do it for you. Your going to get a job and your going to be in control of it. Your going to get a house and maybe get married someday, and that is up to you. So I think whatever you do you should be the one worrying about it, and making the decisions. If you can live on your own and do things without parents it make you more of a person, and a grownup.

I think your parents and family should care about you and want you to achieve in life just as much as you do, because they are your family and they’ve been there for you through your life, and they want you to succeed. This is my argument on how other people should care about your life. Its your parents they have raised you to become who you are, and are going to help you on who your going to become in the future. But there not always going to be there for you and you have to know that. Your are on your own one day and your going to have to make choices for yourself.

I don’t think your friends should be that concerned about your life because they should be concerned about there own life first. Yeah they’re your friends and they care for you but they have there own life to take care of. It’s great that your friends are thre for you because that’s what friends do, and if there your good friends they should help you out with stuff, and give you ideas. The only reason I think this is because they need to think about themselves at the same time, just like you. Your think about your life but I also think you should be concerned for your friends because you always want to see them excel in life, just like you want to do the same.

Faber response

Hes saying christianity has changed because everyone is thinking of jesus in a different way. He is gods son and you think of god, and you are a religious person if you go to church and all that stuff. Hes saying god thinks of his son differently, because of the way wve changed him. Hes like not a famous person anymore, he is just a normal person like everyone in the book. That is the way there making it out to be. there using his name for commercial ads and products. Faber didnt do anything about it, he was to scared and he just tried to fit in a do nothing like everyone else. he really wanted to but he was a coward, and just an innocent person who never spoke to try to keep books, for the perpose they were made. I think they should stand up for themselves, and say whoever wants to read and loves books, should get the chance. I mean whats so bad about reading. you dont want the whole world to be alike and all perfect. Whats the point in living then. they should go to the government or say something. Get all the people together who want books and the world to be different, and fight for it. They can hope for the best, and that is to change whats going on right now. get books back into peoples lives, and make the world a better and smarter place. the worst thing that would happen is that the world would probably stay the way it is. if they hate what the world has come to then stand up for yourself and do what you think is right. the winners in life arent the people that sit in the corners and have everyone tell them what to do they're whole life. they have to take a stand.
